The Employer’s perspective
Emma Rose, Financial Controller
The brief
We were looking for a Finance Manager following a restructure within the Finance department. We were specific about the successful individual having a professional accountancy qualification, as well
as being open to (and interested in!) learning and development. Working with us requires employees to develop specific, sector-related knowledge – a challenge they would need to be ready for. True to our roots, we also want to encourage reading, to create truly inspiring learning experiences. We want successful candidates to bring their own ideas to the company and Simon at Allen Associates really took the time to understand this.
The approach
I haven’t always had a good experience with recruiters, but Allen Associates were different. Simon handled it all for us and clearly knew the market incredibly well. They were very quick to act, sending across eight relevant CVs within a week and seamlessly arranging interviews soon after, despite it being the middle of the summer holidays.
The outcome
Monika joined us in October after her notice period, so the whole process moved incredibly smoothly, which is vital for a senior position. The seamlessness was pivotal as we are a small team and so a vacancy naturally impacts everyone. Monika hit the ground running and built a strong rapport with colleagues and external stakeholders alike. She has also brought a fresh, outside perspective to the organisation. She didn’t have a publishing background, but it seemed to come naturally to her – perhaps a result of her proactivity. She’s built up a strong rapport with the finance team and wider internal stakeholders. It’s freed me up to concentrate on the more strategic aspects of the business. She has now been in the role for a year - I don’t know what we ever did without her!
