What we have achieved in our 20th year

Kate Allen, Executive Chair and Marketing Director, Allen Associates

2019 will mark the 21st birthday of Allen Associates; a team that has grown throughout the years as the business has gone from strength to strength. For us, 2018 was a year characterised by positive change, new ideas and continual expansion as our temp division helped more and more clients to find talented fixed-term candidates and we established a place in our capital.

With the new year now in full swing, we’re reflecting on the achievements that made our 20th year one to remember:

Sponsoring the OX5 run

We’ve always been committed to having a positive impact in the local community: as an active member of Reciprocate, our staff have taken part in charitable and community activities throughout the years. Since 2009, Allen Associates have been the main sponsor of, and taken part in, the OX5 Run at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.  The event is an annual five-mile run that sees many professionals of the community trade their work shoes for trainers to raise money for equipment, specialist treatment and toys for the patients at Oxford Children’s Hospital.

2018 was no different: as one of the highlights in the Allen Associates calendar, we continued our sponsorship of the OX5 Run into our 10th year and entered the run. It may have been tiring for our consultants, but it was a great day as usual and we hope to see more businesses taking part in 2019. Oh, and the event raised £130,000!

Opening our new London office

2018 was a milestone year for Allen Associates, but perhaps the most notable achievement was the opening of our new office in Chiswick Park, West London. The new office serves as a base for our London team, headed up by Kate and run by her son Ben Allen, a welcome addition to the business who brings three years of management experience and recruitment expertise to the role.

A successful step in our continued growth plans, the London office enables us to build on our success in and around Oxford and grow our budding portfolio of clients in the capital: already, we have made permanent and temporary placements for companies such as ZSL London Zoo and Pharmagenesis among others, and we expect to add many more to the list in 2019.

Temps division exceeds £3 million turnover

With employment levels sitting at a record high, the demand for temporary workers continues to rise as business leaders rush to find talent to plug key skills gaps and support business growth. In our 20 years of operation, we have managed to place over 4,000 temporary workers. Against a backdrop of an ever-changing employment market, this is a huge achievement and forms the benchmark for us to keep growing and developing our temporary placements.

Already, Allen Associates enjoys a reputation as the leading provider of temporary workers in Oxfordshire – last year, however, saw our ever-growing Temps division exceed 3 million in turnover. Thanks to our talented team it was a record year in temporary placements. In light of this, we set up a dedicated LinkedIn page for our Temporary Division to better reach clients and candidates: be sure to follow the page!

Growing our presence

At Allen Associates, we’ve always been passionate about sharing what we know with budding job seekers and business leaders alike, and some key media coverage in 2018 allowed us to consolidate our reputation as experts in recruitment. As well as City AM, PA Life, We Are The City and Sheer Luxe, Kate had an article featured in the Huffington Post.

With another successful year behind us, we’re starting 2019 on a high. If it’s anything like our 20th year, both the team, our Clients and our Candidates have much to look forward to.

Over the last 20 years, we have grown as a business to become one of the leading independent recruitment agencies in Oxfordshire, and in 2018 have opened our first London office, to service clients in the capital.
