The company does not set out to recruit temps with a view to employing them permanently – but it often works out like that, as Kate Fletcher, HR Advisor at John Wiley & Sons, explained:
Our temps often build close working relationships with their managers and through exposure to the role, are able to demonstrate their suitability for it. It also gives managers an opportunity to ‘test’ the individual in a way that isn’t possible in an interview.
