Grants Officer

This is a fantastic and varied opportunity to be part of a team gaining experience in a busy grants function that manages around 400 projects at any one time! You will be joining a well-established, social organisation.

This role is available on either a full-time or part-time (4 days a week) basis.

Grants Officer Responsibilities

The successful candidate will manage day to day pre-award activities, including the preparation of, and accurate costings for, grant applications using a costing tool. You will ensure compliance with sponsor rules and provide advice and support to the Principal Investigators and researchers in the preparation of sponsor applications, working with them to complete sponsor application forms and liaising with external sponsors, as well as ensuring that all applications meet the criteria.

Grants Officer Experience

Our client is looking to recruit a professional, confident and reliable individual with a strong team ethic and a focus on professional service provision and ideally experience within a Grants role. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively with all stakeholders and inspire confidence of grant-holders and funders. Experience within an education setting would be advantageous.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential to build professional and effective working relationships with key stakeholders, as well as the ability to inspire the trust of colleagues when dealing with difficult and confidential matters, and to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and with a multi-cultural and diverse team.

A proactive self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude, who can hit the ground running, and confidently challenge and offer improvements where required. You will have strong financial skills with respect to grant management and proven ability to use the X5 research costing tool and Oracle or similar (however, training will be provided if necessary.)

You will be able to demonstrate a pragmatic and diplomatic attitude and take responsibility for your own workload and actions. You will be hands-on, versatile and polite with an honest and transparent nature and a respect for university policies. This is a very process-driven environment. Experience of using Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.
