Executive Chair and Marketing Director

Kate Allen

Hello, I'm Kate and I founded Allen Associates in 1998 with my husband Rob who is our Finance Director. I've worked in recruitment since the early 1980s, starting my career on a very busy Temps Desk in London.

Q&A
What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love people so the contact I have with clients and candidates is still the most rewarding aspect of my job.

What does your role entail?

It's incredibly varied and covers everything from strategic planning, all aspects of our marketing and business development. I’ve really enjoyed moving our in-person HR Hub events online and have been so proud of the quality of the guest speakers we've been able to attract and our growing attendance figures.

What do you think you bring to your client and candidate relationships?

Passion, expertise, knowledge and a great deal of insight. Energy and positivity too.

What do you think makes Allen Associates special or a great place to work?

Our focus on specialist markets, our knowledge of the local areas in which we operate, our emphasis on service rather than sales and our wonderful team!

Having enjoyed a wonderful career in recruitment, I’m always happy to talk to anyone who is thinking of joining our industry

Tell us something about yourself.

I decided to get fit in my 50s and fell in love with exercise. I now exercise every day and love my Peloton! I’m a keen runner and very much enjoy a Saturday Park Run and the annual OX5 RUN in aid of Oxford Children's Hospital which we are proud to sponsor every year. I also recently started weight training.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I live for my holidays and spend a great deal of time planning for my next trip abroad.

What do you think makes a great recruitment consultant?

A positive attitude, a genuine interest in people, resilience and a great memory! Having enjoyed a wonderful career in recruitment, I’m always happy to talk to anyone who is thinking of joining our industry or would like advice on how to develop their recruitment career.
