Oxford’s top accountancy talent rewarded with Allen Associates prize

Oxford-based Vale Financial Training has collaborated with leading independent recruitment agency Allen Associates to award two students with the heralded Allen Associates ACCA Paper Prize.

Students Georgia Marshall and Jenna Omand were chosen for the prize after receiving exceptional marks in their TX (Taxation) and ATX (Advanced Taxation) exams - an integral part of their ACCA Accounting qualification.

Allen Associates, who celebrated their 20th year of business in 2018 and opened their first London branch, sponsored the award for  two top-performing students achieving the highest results in the Applied Skills papers and Strategic Professional  papers.

Established by Liz Hulls and Jo Tuffill in 2011, Vale Financial Training work with over 150 Oxfordshire employers and have trained over 300 students over the years.

The partnership between Allen Associates and Vale Financial Training was initiated in 2016 and aims to recognise and reward students’ hard work, as well as to support those who are looking to initiate or progress their finance careers.

Liz Hulls, Director at Vale Financial Training said:

“We are incredibly proud of all of our students’ exam successes.  We are also delighted when students such as Jenna and Georgia receive reward and recognition from Allen Associates for their exceptional performances on these intellectually challenging ACCA papers”.

Kate Allen, Managing Director at Allen Associates, commented:

“Allen Associates have been sponsoring this award for three years now and we are always consistently overwhelmed by the sheer talent of the ACCA Accountancy students.

“Both Jenna and Georgia have exhibited a high level of knowledge, poise and determination and I am excited to see just how much they can achieve in their careers.

“It is an honour to award two young women with this accolade and recognition, I’m sure they will apply their technical ability to each exam over the next year and impress us even further with their final results. Congratulations to both!”

Jenna Omand completed her Professional paper in Advanced Taxation, which counts towards her final ACCA qualification. Speaking of her achievement she stated:

“I am surprised and excited to have won the ACCA award. I found the exam challenging due to the range of topics but was delighted with the result.

“My firm Pearson Buchholz have recently merged with top 100 practice Shaw Gibbs. Here I hope to further my experience alongside becoming fully qualified in 2019.”

Georgia Marshall, who completed her Applied Skills paper, echoed the sentiments of Jenna and said:

“I am delighted to win the Allen Associates and Vale FT Award. It was a lot of hard work, but well worth the effort. There was a lot to cover in the syllabus and you’re always a bit worried the examiner will throw in a curve ball, but the courses at Vale FT are great at being exam-focused and preparing you to deal with whatever comes up.”

Speaking of her future endeavours, she is working towards her next set of exams which will take place over the next year.

She said: “I will sit my last exam in March next year, and my husband and I are planning a big trip to California to celebrate!”
