Allen Associates gets into training for the OX5 RUN 2023 – and calls on other businesses to take part

Allen Associates News

We are delighted to be entering a team of 17 in the OX5 RUN 2023 as we mark our 14th year of sponsorship and support for this well-loved community event in aid of Oxford Children’s Hospital – and we’d love to see more businesses take part.

Our team is in varying stages of training – from regular runs to weekend walks – in preparation for tackling the notoriously hilly, five mile course through the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace on Sunday, 26th March.

Kate Allen, Managing Director at Allen Associates, said: “This is a very special community event which brings people together in support of our local children’s hospital. It’s a key event in the Allen Associates’ calendar and one that our consultants look forward to every year. It’s brilliant for building team rapport and camaraderie and enables us to unite around a shared goal.

“It would be great to see more businesses get involved this year by entering teams or promoting it to their staff, families and friends. There are so many benefits, particularly after the last couple of years, when colleagues have been separated from one another and the cultural cohesion and sense of team, may have broken down a bit. This is a great opportunity to bring people together for an important local cause and to network with other like-minded businesses.”

Here are just a few of the reasons why we think more businesses should get involved:

  • On an individual basis, lots of people make new year's resolutions to get fitter and healthier. Joining colleagues for a walk or run during lunch times or after work in the build up to a shared event, is a great way to achieve these personal goals.
  • On a team basis, it brings people together, gives them a common interest to talk about and enables people to get to know each other in a different way. It's also a great leveller and strengthens relationships and helps to develop that all important team ethic.
  • On a community basis, it's all about helping to make a difference for one of the most worthwhile causes we can think of. Oxford Children's Hospital touches the lives of so many people in Oxfordshire and further afield, and does the most incredible job.

The OX5 RUN is a community event that supports the children’s services across the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. To date the five-mile fundraiser has raised well over £1 million and has helped to fund new equipment, facilities and even a dedicated play specialist for children undergoing scans in radiology.
