We have registered a fantastic new maternity cover role for an Assistant Bursar / Financial Accountant within the education sector. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will be primarily responsible for leading on the finances relating to billing, funding, sales, payroll and banking. This is a great role in a lovely team. The role is full time and on-site 5 days per week in South Oxfordshire.

Assistant Bursar / Financial Accountant (Maternity cover)

We have registered a fantastic new maternity cover role for an Assistant Bursar / Financial Accountant within the education sector.  Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will be primarily responsible for leading on the finances relating to billing, funding, sales, payroll and banking. This is a great role in a lovely team. The role is full time and on-site 5 days per week in South Oxfordshire.

Assistant Bursar / Financial Accountant Responsibilities

This position will involve, but will not be limited to:

  • Billing invoices to parents and processing payments
  • Maintain a termly funding report of eligible pupils and prepare funding calculations
  • Process and invoice non-fee sales
  • Chase outstanding debts
  • processing of daily bank receipts and payments
  • monthly bank reconciliations on all bank accounts including petty cash reconciliation
  • Preparing and processing the monthly adjustments to payroll (e.g. overtime; clubs; unpaid leave; etc.)
  • Regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts

Assistant Bursar / Financial Accountant EssentialsProven experience in a mid-level financial or management accounting role is essential

  • Competent at learning a wide range of financial processes quickly, and using initiative to overcome gaps in knowledge
  • Competent user of MS Excel and Word
  • Experience of supporting management in a fast-paced environment
  • Working towards an accounting qualification (the school will provide support during exam periods) and experienced in the independent school's sector is desirable

Location

Based in South Oxford, this is a full-time role based in the office 5 days per week with free onsite parking.
