HR Manager Responsibilities
This position will involve, but will not be limited to:
- Managing end-to-end HR operations for approximately 70 non-academic staff and 20 casual workers to ensure smooth daily functioning and compliance with policies.
- Leading on employee relations cases, providing tailored advice to managers and staff across a wide spectrum of HR issues to promote a positive workplace culture.
- Updating and developing HR policies to reflect current legislation and best practices, aligning with the inclusive values and strategic goals.
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes to attract diverse talent aligned with the international environment.
- Supporting line management and overseeing the performance management process to foster continuous development.
- Managing HR records and data confidentiality with utmost precision.
- Contributing to organisational development initiatives to enhance staff engagement and wellbeing.
- Managing an HR Administrator.

HR Manager Experience Essentials
- Proven generalist HR management experience within a small organisation, handling the full employee lifecycle, in a standalone capcity.
- Experience of managing employee relations cases, advising senior management and senior staff.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Ability to, and experience of, creating, changing, updating, and developing HR policies confidently.
- Experience of working with HR data, records, and confidentiality and commerciality of managing HR budgets.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle a broad range of HR scenarios with professionalism.
- CIPD qualification at Level 7 preferred; Level 5 qualified candidates with ongoing professional development will also be considered. Please ensure your HR qualifications are evident on your application.
Location
The role is based within a collegiate environment with flexible working arrangements. Initially, the successful candidate will undertake onsite induction and training, after which they can work from home one day per week, subject to the operational requirements. The role is accessible by public transport, with options for parking access where available, making commuting straightforward. You must live within easy reach of Oxford.
